Allison Guttu, Stephanie Kollgaard, Brooke Eliazar-Macke, and Molly Stump speak in this session recorded at Socialism 2023. This session was sponsored by National Women's Liberation. National Women's Liberation (NWL) is a multiracial feminist group for women who want to fight male supremacy and gain more freedom for women. https://womensliberation.org Is the war on abortion a matter of religious fanaticism? An attack on sexual pleasure? National Women’s Liberation believes these popular arguments don’t go deep enough. Using Jenny Brown’s book Birth Strike, we'll discuss the material, economic and racialized reasons that the capitalist class desperately needs to control reproductive labor. Editors note: At 8:30 the speakers incorrectly refer to the 1965 Supreme Court Case Griswold v. CT as granting abortion to married couples and it should be birth control.
