This panel will explore the myths of nuclearism and the attempts to modernize the machines of war and power in today’s world. Participants will discuss how nuclear power is a dangerous distraction from decarbonizing energy systems, and a deadly threat to Indigenous rights and Land Back movements. They will outline how the new nuclear arms race is consuming budgets and increasing risks for us all. And they will look at the role nuclear weapons play in geopolitical nightmares, including in relation to Israel’s genocide of Palestinians. But the discussion will also highlight the work of the global antinuclear movement and how everyone can engage in the struggle for nuclear abolition and a nuclear free future.
