Martyna Jałoszyńska, Rayito Rocha, Natalia Tylim, and Lexi McMenamin speak in this session recorded at Socialism 2022.
At this meeting we'll get an in depth look at the movements for abortion in Poland and Argentina, plus greetings from the Mexican movement. These struggles are ripe with lessons for a new generation of socialist feminists in the US coming to terms with why and how we have been losing so much ground, but more importantly, what inspiration we can draw to reverse that.

brian bean speaks in this session recorded at Socialism 2022. This session was sponsored by Rampant Magazine.
https://rampantmag.com
Contemporary capitalism exploits and degrades human beings around the world, relying on the violent power of states to create profits, guarantee the functioning of markets, and cheapen labor through violence. There is no way to build a liberated future for all of us without overthrowing capitalism, and that will mean confronting and dismantling the capitalist state, its prisons, policing, borders, and military. It’s time we talk about smashing the state.

The Political Economy of Debt and Debtor Organizing
Astra Taylor, Lindsey Muniak, and René Christian Moya speak in this session recorded at Socialism 2023. This session was sponsored by the Debt Collective: https://debtcollective.org/
Concentrated wealth, stagnant wages, and austerity-driven policies have forced us to take on enormous debts to cover the costs of everything from healthcare to housing, education to transportation. This panel will consider how the growing crisis of personal debt relates to the contemporary economic situation – and look at the forms of organizing that seek to turn debt into a political and collective question.

Resisting the Tradwife Turn
Emily Janakiram and Megan Lessard speak in this session recorded at Socialism 2023. This session was sponsored by NYC for Abortion Rights: https://abortionrights.nyc.
The last decade has seen the rise of a “pro-life feminist” movement that has been instrumental in the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the passage of anti-trans legislation. Pro-life feminists position abortion as violence towards women which serves men and bosses, gesturing towards the real failures of liberal feminism to secure material gains for poor and working class women and advancing a "pro-family, pro-labor" agenda that casts abortion, feminism, and sexual liberty as neoliberal, capitalist innovations which exploit women and alienate them from their supposedly innate desire to raise children and maintain the domestic sphere. This discussion will unpack the terrain of this emergent movement and its effects within the anti-abortion movement as a whole, and describe how socialist feminism can and must counter it in a post-Dobbs world.
